Even in the 21st Century, oil colours have the highest colour concentration and light refraction of all artists’ colours. This brilliance, along with their malleable character and slow drying times, make oil colour superior for many painting techniques where glazing, blending, or working-back is called for.

This exciting two-day workshop covers oil painting essentials: preparing surfaces, colour selection and mixing, mediums, composition and brush skills. We will work with several small studies towards a finished painting on canvas, with particular attention to tonal range and colour depth.

This workshop is solvent-free, combining historical oil painting techniques with modern materials and approaches to provide safe and allergy-friendly painting processes to take home with you.
